Wholesome Meals for Your Little Ones Made in Your Kitchen

Making food for your baby at home isn’t hard at all, all you need is a high-quality blender, a couple of delicious ingredient combos and a little information. This book has recipes for babies 4 – 12 months old so you will be able to find delicious meal options for your baby no matter what stage they are at. New eaters only require about 1 – 3 tablespoons of pureed food and you can try to introduce new foods every 4 days. There are a few rules of thumb you need to follow – fresh soft fruits (like bananas) do not need to be cooked but fruits like apples and pears need to be steamed because their flesh is a little tough. Starchy foods like yams and sweet potatoes need to be boiled, steamed or roasted. Vegetables should be steamed, and you can poach fish, meat and poultry.

This book “Homemade Baby Food” will introduce you to various ingredient pairings and options but keep a look out for allergic reactions and keep in touch with your paediatrician about new ingredients. To make this easier, it is recommended that for babies 4 – 6 months you only try single ingredient foods, such as a green pea puree or butternut squash puree. You can move on to 2 or 3 ingredient options as your baby gets older. You should also be careful of feeding your baby foods that cause gas such as dairy and beans, you may want to add these to their diet when they are about 8 – 10 months old.

Follow these rules of thumb with the recipes in this book “Homemade Baby Food”, the instructions are pretty much the same throughout:

  1. If cooked food is being used, allow it cool completely before blending.
  2. Blend the ingredients all together.
  3. Strain if the mixture is not smooth enough.
  4. It’s that simple!

Once you’ve got these down pat, you can let your creativity roam free and come up with delicious combos to feed to your baby. Making food for your baby at home can be a fun time, and a great way to get to know your baby.
