The smell of the forest and the noise of the trees make you lie down on the ground, relax and listen to the birds singing. In ordinary life, we so often overlook the small details of the world in which we live. But the beauty of life on this planet consists of such details. Moss is one of such things, we never look to it, do not study it.

But this is a very good and useful plant, which, moreover, also looks great. There are about 20,000 species of this plant in the world. It serves as food for various mammals and insects, some types of moss are used in medicine as part of medicines.

After death, the moss mixes with the soil and infuses it with useful substances. Few people know that moss is one of the very first plants that appeared on our planet. It is also remarkably resilient, in samples found in Antarctica, whose age was about 1,500 years old, scientists were able to find moss, which, when exposed to favorable conditions, began to grow again.

The lower part of the Sphagnum is constantly dying off, and the top is growing by about 1 mm per year. Existing in this way, the plant lives to 2000 years. Other species of mosses live an average of about 10 years.

Sarconeurum ice, living in Antarctica, does not have time to make spores due to the climatic conditions of the continent. Penguins help it to breed . Transferring on the legs and feathers of the plant particles, they contribute to its vegetative reproduction.

Due to the antibacterial substances contained in the plant parts, they were used instead of cotton as an antiseptic. Moss shifted logs in the construction of houses, which protected the wood from rotting and insulated the building.
