Stag beetles. Crushed giants
Stag beetles. In our world, cars are harmful not only by their exhaust emissions into the atmosphere, animals and insects are very often the victims of cars. With the onset of heat in all cities, various living creatures come out of their holes and shelters to eat and warm themselves. One of such creatures at the beginning of summer are stag beetles. This is the largest beetle of all living in the European zone.
The length of the body of the male stag beetles with horns varies from 4 to 8 centimeters. In Turkey, there was a record holder, whose length was 10 centimeters. Females are almost twice less – from 2.5 to 5 cm. It is curious that with such a developed maxillary apparatus, these beetles do not eat solid food at all, preferring to drink the sap of trees. They climb up on oaks and other trees, from which a delicious juice oozes. But their bodies are very often too weak to hold onto flexible branches when the wind blows.
And they fall to the ground. Very often, oaks grow near the road and this means that these beetles have no chance to survive if they fell backwards on the ground, since it is very difficult for them to turn over. Hundreds and thousands of such beetles die under the wheels of cars. I am a kind enough person, so I try to take these inverted beetles home, feed them with sugar syrup and carry them to a safe tree, which is far from the road. And I ask you, dear readers of this article, to do the same, because every life on this planet is unique and we must appreciate it!
