Peach Puree. Purees for Babies
This puree is a great idea during summer when you can find an abundance of fresh, juicy peaches. This puree is delicious and should be a big hit with your little one. This peach puree is recommended for babies 5+ months. This puree is also great to give to your baby if they have been having some constipation issues.
Serving Size: 6 – 8
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 really ripe peaches, washed, peeled and cut into chunks.
- Water (if needed, to adjust consistency)
Tip:
If peaches aren’t organic, wash in a solution of 1-part vinegar and 3 parts of water.
Peaches can be steamed for a few minutes if they aren’t ripe and soft.
Purees for Babies
Butternut Squash Puree. Purees for Babies
This puree is usually a favourite of babies because of its sweet taste. It is better to roast the squash to bring out all of it’s amazing flavour. Butternut squash is packed with a bunch of nutritional benefits for your baby; vitamin A for a healthy eyesight and it is a good source of energy. This is good for babies 4+ months.
Serving Size: 4
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of butternut squash, washed, seeds removed, peeled and chopped.
- Water (if needed, to adjust consistency)
Tip:
Butternut squash can be roasted at 425 degrees-F until tender (about 40 minutes).
Purees for Babies
Sweet Pea Puree. Purees for Babies
Sweet pea puree is also a classic favourite of babies because of its sweet taste. Fresh or frozen peas can be used to make this puree. Peas help your babies build a strong immune system, reduces the risk for heart problems, helps with bone health and relieve constipation. This puree is recommended for babies 7+ months old.
Serving Size: 8
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of peas
- Water (if needed, to adjust consistency)
Tip:
Defrost and drain if frozen peas are used.

Apple Puree. Purees for Babies
This apple puree is the perfect way to make delicious, homemade apple sauce. This can be a quick snack for your baby or even a meal. Apple puree is perfect for babies (and children, teenagers, anybody really) 4+ months old. Apples are loaded with dietary fibre that your baby’s digestive track needs and it may help to reduce risk for cancer and heart disease.
Serving Size: 6
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks.
- Water (if needed, to adjust consistency)
Tip:
Steam apples for about 5 – 10 minutes until apples are tender. This will also help to bring out the apple’s sweetness.
Purees for Babies
Avocado Puree. Purees for Babies
Avocados are a super fruit (yes, fruit) in their own right. They’re rich in Vitamin A and C, calcium and iron – plus a lot more. These nutrients are greatly beneficial to your baby’s growth and development. This puree can be given to babies at 5+ months. A blender isn’t necessarily needed for this puree but it can be used.
Serving Size: 6
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 large avocado, pitted and the flesh cut into chunks.
- Water (if needed, to adjust consistency)
Tip:
Avocados do not need to be cooked.
Purees for Babies
Prune Puree. Purees for Babies
Prunes are the perfect trick to help a baby dealing with constipation. Prunes help with digestion because they’re high in fibre. They’re also a good source of potassium, iron and vitamins. This puree can be introduced to babies at 6+ months. You can add cooked apples to make this puree even more delicious and beneficial.
Serving Size: 4
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of dried prunes
- Warm water
Tip:
Soak prunes in water until they are plump.
